“Dr. Bartosz Michalik from Amartus is a very understated and modest person. He has been very versatile. Not only is he a MEF-CECP certified professional. He’s also a computer scientist. He has been very strong in all areas of LSO. Bartosz has been very actively leading in every LSO Hackathon from the beginning, and then blogging about them. He co-leads the OpenCS Packet WAN project, actively contributed to LSO Presto SDK development. He is educating the next generation on LSO and MEF standards in general. Bartosz is also very involved in the key OpenDaylight Unimanager project which introduced LSO Presto to OpenDaylight. He also co-authored the IEEE paper on LSO together with Jack Pugaczewski, Tara Cummings and Donald Hunter.”

MEF

MEF is a global industry alliance focused on developing to develop a global federation of network, cloud and technology providers in establishing dynamic, assured, and certified services that empower enterprise digital transformation. The organization is headquartered in the United States and has over 200 members from around the world, representing a range of stakeholders, including service providers, network operators, technology companies, and academic institutions.

MEF was originally established in 2001 to promote the development of Ethernet services in metro area networks, but has since expanded its focus to cover a wider range services and technologies, spanning multiple layers of networking stack as well as addressing cloud, data center, IoT, and 5G use cases.

MEF’s mission is to promote the development and adoption of standards, certifications, and best practices for the services organization defines. The organization defines Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) framework that facilitates automation of a design and delivery of network services across multiple domains and technology platforms using open APIs and standard interfaces. By leveraging MEF’s standards, certifications, and best practices, service providers can improve the reliability, scalability, and interoperability of their Ethernet networks and drive innovation in their operations.

Amartus is among the most contributing companies in the organization since its establishment. We are co-chair of LSO committee as well as lead and contribute to numerous standardization project. Throughout the years Amartus contributions were recognized by numerous awards.

TM FORUM

TM Forum is a global industry alliance that focuses on digital transformation and collaboration in the telecommunications sector. TM Forum works to develop and promote open, interoperable standards that support digital transformation and collaboration across the telecommunications industry.

The organization is made up of over 900 member companies, including service providers, technology companies, and academia. Its mission is to drive innovation and growth for its members by providing a platform for collaboration, standardization, and knowledge-sharing. The forum activities cover areas such as network and IT operations, customer experience management, revenue management, digital services, data management, cybersecurity, AI, IoT, blockchain, and agile practices.

Amartus is one of the long-standing members of the organization

GLF – Global Leaders’ Forum

Launched in late 2020, the GLF Community is a network of leaders that represents the ecosystem of companies, partners and industries that underpin global digital infrastructure.

Members of the community benefit from community-only conferences and rountables, exclusive market analysis, reports, and data, ability to participate in industry-wide collaborative initiatives and many more. Many of GLF meetings and social activities are co-located with events run by Capacity Media, Layer123, BroadGroup, Wan Summits, ITW and TowerXchange. Amartus is taking part in these conferences regularly.

ETSI

ETSI is a European Standards Organization (ESO). They are the regional standards body dealing with telecommunications, broadcasting and other electronic communications networks and service, supporting European regulations and legislation through the creation of Harmonised European Standards. ETSI provides members with an open, inclusive and collaborative environment. This environment supports the timely development, ratification and testing of globally applicable standards for ICT-enabled systems, applications and services.

ONAP

Open Network Automation Platform (ONAP) is an open-source software platform for automating and managing the design, creation, and delivery of virtual network functions (VNFs) and services. It is designed to support network functions virtualization (NFV) and provide a unified platform for automating the orchestration and management of network services. ONAP is a collaborative project, hosted by Linux Foundation, that brings together leading technology companies and service providers to develop a common platform for network automation.

The platform provides a comprehensive set of tools and components for automating the entire lifecycle of network services, from design and creation to deployment, monitoring, and optimization. ONAP supports a range of use cases, including 5G networks, IoT, and edge computing, and provides APIs and software development kits (SDKs) to support third-party innovation and integration.
Amartus was using platform in a few PoCs.

Linux Foundation

The Linux Foundation is a non-profit technology consortium dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the open-source Linux operating system and promoting its widespread use. The organization provides a neutral platform for collaboration among industry leaders, developers, and users to advance the state of open-source initiatives such as the Linux kernel, Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and the EdgeX Foundry.
Amartus participates in Linux Foundation efforts by engaging in the initiatives described below.

SATELLITE Conference

The SATELLITE Conference and Exhibition was launched in 1981 with the goal to connect and unite the satellite industry as we headed toward new frontiers. Over the past 42 years, SATELLITE has served the satellite and space communities and broadened the scope of content to encompass professionals in commercial markets benefiting from satellite technology and applications, such as broadcasting, media & entertainment, government/military, aviation, maritime, automotive, financial, healthcare, telecommunications and more.

SATELLITE continues to be one of the largest business gatherings, innovation platform, and media event of the year, that’s why Amartus is one of the participants each year.

ONF

The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) is a global industry alliance focused on promoting the development and adoption of open networking technologies and solutions. The organization was established in 2011 and has over 200 members from around the world.
ONF’s mission is to promote the development and adoption of open networking technologies, including software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). Throughout the years ONF defined standards, recommendation and solutions for data plane programmability (e.g., OpenFlow protocol, P4 language), transport architectures (e.g., Transport API), NFV (e.g., Open source MANO), network automation (e.g. Open Network Operating System). By leveraging ONF’s technologies and standards, service providers can improve the reliability, scalability, and agility of their networks and drive innovation in their operations.

Amartus has been demonstrating feasibility of ONF deliverables in various commercial and non-profit projects. Amartus is contributing to ONF through

Opendaylight

OpenDaylight (ODL for short) is an open-source platform for software-defined networking (SDN). OpenDaylight is a collaborative project, hosted by Linux Foundation that brings together a community of technology companies, service providers, and academic institutions to contribute to research, development and maintenance of the platform.
ODL offers a modular and extensible architecture that allows for easy integration with other network management systems and enables third-party innovation and development. The platform provides a range of tools for network automation, including controllers, protocols, and APIs, and supports a variety of networking technologies, such as OpenFlow, NETCONF, and REST APIs. Additionally, OpenDaylight provides a rich set of features for network management and orchestration.
Amartus was using Opendaylight platform in a number of proof of concept and commercial projects to implement. We use to be the lead committer to uni-manager module in ODL that is a reference implementation of MEF LSO Presto API.
