Telecom teams are moving beyond isolated AI use cases.

But when LLM-based systems move from demo to production, recurring failure modes emerge: undefined ROI, unreliable outputs, lack of auditability, and architectures that don’t integrate with operational systems.

This document is intended for architects and engineering teams working across OSS/BSS, network, and AI platforms. It provides a structured approach to designing multi-agent systems that can operate within real telecom constraints — with clear boundaries, measurable outcomes, and built-in governance.

The blueprint was developed by experts from Amartus, Colt, and NTT DOCOMO Business, in collaboration within the Mplify standardization initiative. It reflects shared experience across operators and vendors addressing a common problem: how to move from isolated AI pilots to deployable, accountable systems that deliver measurable value.

Rather than proposing another abstract architecture, the framework defines a pragmatic adoption path:

  • start with a scoped, high-value process,
  • validate measurable impact early,
  • expand incrementally based on proven outcomes.

What you'll learn

  • Decomposing telecom workflows into coordinated agent interactions
  • Patterns for orchestration, control, and task routing
  • Integration with OSS/BSS and network systems
  • Managing state, memory, and context across agents
  • Designing for observability, cost control, and governance

What's inside

  • Reference architecture for multi-agent LLM systems
  • Definition of agent roles and responsibilities
  • Interaction flows between agents and backend systems
  • Execution model: Scoping → Data → Modeling → Deployment
  • Architectural viewpoints to support governance, traceability, and evolution

Mplify auspices

This framework was developed through collaboration between members of the Mplify ecosystem, bringing together perspectives from:

  • telecom operators
  • system integrators
  • AI and platform specialists

Contributors from Amartus, Colt, and NTT DOCOMO Business worked to establish a shared architectural language across Technology, Operations, Risk, and Finance — addressing one of the core barriers to production AI adoption in telecom.

The result is not a theoretical model, but a consolidated view of what works in practice across different environments and deployment contexts.
